South East BIC client Holos signs Hong Kong deal

The Wexford based company Holos Skin-care is launching into Hong Kong.

The skin-care company, which creates plant-based handmade products, has partnered with cosmetic distribution company Dermatcare HK to launch in Hong Kong. The first shipment will be sent this week

Niamh Hogan founded Holos Skin-care in 2014, and later won investment from Eleanor McEvoy, chief executive of Budget Energy on RTE's Dragons' Den. She began investigating launching into Hong Kong in 2015, but said she was particular about what partner she would use in the territory, as she wanted a team on the ground there similar to the team in Ireland. “To grow, we need a partner that can become our voice and be dedicated to the brand. We cannot work with a partner that has hundreds of brands and we bust become one of them. "The company will not sell on mainland China because of its required animal testing laws, she said, but it will be available online in China as animal testing is not required for that.

Currently, the company has 120 stockists in Ireland and Northern Ireland, including Sam McCauleys Chemists and Mulligans Chemists.

"Being A Holistic brand, we want customers to feel they are being cared for when the buy Holos. Not all retailers can provide this so we have gotten quite strict in who we give the brand too."

It has 18 products now, with three more in the development. As well as Hong Kong, it is targeting Germany. Hogan said that Germany is suitable as it was the most mature market for natural and organic cosmetics in Europe.
