Revenues jump at logistics firm Scurri

Wexford logistics software company Scurri has seen a 20pc increase in revenues in each of the last two weeks as delivery volumes rise due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The company works with several high-profile merchants, including Ebay, Ocado and online contact lens firm Vision Direct.

Founder Rory O'Connor said: "For example, we work with a company, GBUK, and they ship to the NHS - face masks and kits for operations - and you'd expect them to be up and they are up.  "But people who sell toys and games are up, beauty and cosmetics are up, baby goods are up and fashion is up. We wouldn't see what type of product it is so we might be guessing that it's leisurewear. We can see that our merchants in general are up."

However, he believes that air freight costs will increase, which could be borne by the merchants or consumers. The company, which employs 35 people, was set up in 2010 with the aim of selling shipping to small merchants. But its software proved extremely successful and that is now its core business.
