 Industry: Remote Visual Surveillance

David Walsh of the award-winning Carlow-based company Netwatch shares his experiences and explains how South East BIC supported their early stages

Netwatch was co-founded by David Walsh and Niall Kelly in 2003 and has grown to a 122 person company in just 13 years.

The company is an award winning provider of remote visual surveillance services. Game changers responsible for pioneering some of the greatest advances in security technology, they are constantly searching for enhanced and more innovative ways to create a fearless environment for their clients, their employees and their families. Netwatch monitors in excess of 25,000 security cameras across the globe and now operates in four continents with clients across Europe, South Africa, the Middle East and the USA.

The Netwatch Communication Hub, built to the highest international standards, features multiple workstations.  All workstations are “blank” until there is a breach of security at a customer’s site.  Within seconds the workstation screen becomes active and the operators can view live footage from the site. Intervention specialists in the Network Hub follow a strict pre-agreed protocol including issuing personalised audio warnings and notifying the authorities where appropriate.

Netwatch received support from Enterprise Ireland to establish an R&D centre in their new headquarters in 2010.
